After the pitching staff dominated last week, the Olympia baseball team’s offense broke through in a 13-3 win over Bethel in five innings Monday.
The Bears pitchers were still efficient, as Peyton Crass pitched four innings of one-run ball, striking out four and allowing just three hits and two walks.
The only run Crass surrendered came in the first inning, but the Bears immediately gave him the lead as Sawyer Dean notched an RBI single and Connor Hardy delivered a sacrifice groundout. Dean added his second RBI of the day on a sacrifice in the second, and Travis Kunkel’s RBI single on the next at bat made it 4-1.
Olympia pulled away with a five-run third, highlighted by RBI singles from Landyn Keister and Braden Barrett. Barrett drove in two more in the fourth on a double to polish off a 2-of-3 day with three runs batted in. The Bears stole 12 bases against the Bison.
Olympia (12-2, 8-2 South Puget Sound League) is the first team in the SPSL to reach eight league wins entering the second matchup with Bethel (2-9, 1-9 SPSL) Wednesday on the road.
