Adna took a lead into halftime against Rainier on Saturday, but it was a dominant third-quarter effort that helped the Pirates pull away with a 62-41 victory.
Adna led by four after the first and by 11 going into halftime before adding 23 points in the third quarter to push the lead to more than 20.
Trevin Salme and Grayson Humphrey led the way, combining for 19 points in the frame, and they went on to combine for 47 points. Salme scored 27, and Humphrey finished with 20.
“Trevin and Grayson did a really good job of just going and making scoring plays for themselves,” Adna coach Luke Salme said.
Jackson Knittle added five, both James Greenwood and Trent Kephart scored three, and both Kannen Kephart and Kaden Richardson scored two.
“We did some things well, and we have lots to improve on,” Luke Salme said. “We’ll keep learning and growing.”
Rainier was led by Peyton Sheaffer, who scored 13, while Ryder Martin scored nine. Both Nehemiah Linson and Jacob Hanson tallied seven, Ty Beckman recorded three, and Jordan Pringle added two.
Adna (2-0) hosts Toutle Monday as part of a four-game week, while Rainier (3-3) will host Napavine on Wednesday.
