A prolific bank robber responsible for a string of robberies in King County was arrested Friday after he robbed a Key Bank in Lacey, the Lacey Police Department announced Tuesday.
The suspect, who has not been identified by law enforcement, reportedly passed a note to the teller at the Key Bank on Martin Way on Nov. 28 stating that he had weapons and wanted money. He reportedly left in a vehicle with cash from the bank.
Patrol officers with the Lacey Police Department responded and were able to determine the vehicle used by the suspect was stolen from a car dealership. The suspect had asked to take the car for a test drive and never returned — though he did leave behind a copy of his driver’s license, according to Lacey police.
“Now that they were able to identify him, it was learned that he had several arrests for robbery, eluding and assault,” the Lacey Police Department said in a social media post on Tuesday.
Officers went to his address and, after not finding him there, reached out to other agencies in the area in search of him.
A few hours later, the Nisqually Public Safety Complex advised that the stolen vehicle was in the parking garage at the casino, and the suspect was inside the casino.
Officers with the Nisqually Police Department were able to take the suspect into custody with the help of Thurston County Sheriff, according to the Lacey Police Department.
Officers received a search warrant for the vehicle and found several items linking him to the King County robberies, according to the Lacey Police Department.
He was booked into jail for robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle, and investigations for the other robberies are ongoing, according to Lacey police.
“Great work to all involved in helping us catch this prolific bank robber!” the Lacey Police Department stated.
