The River Ridge boys soccer team couldn’t recover from four goals in the first 21 minutes against Bellarmine and lost 6-1 at home Friday night.
The Hawks trailed 4-0 at halftime with goals by the Lions in the ninth, 11th, 16th and 21th minutes. Bellarmine took a 5-0 lead early in the second half, and the Lions helped put the Hawks on the board with an own goal off a crosser from Nehemiah Best in the 55th minute. The Lions tacked on one more goal in the 58th.
“The first 22 minutes were 100% on me and getting the tactics wrong,” River Ridge head coach Daniel Arevalo said. “When we switched to 4-3-3, the boys played way better, and our passing and possessions improved.”
River Ridge (0-3-1) will visit Central Kitsap Tuesday night.
