The River Ridge boys soccer team couldn’t keep up with Central Kitsap in a 6-0 loss in Silverdale Tuesday night.
The Cougars scored twice in a three-minute span in the 16th and 18th minutes, and they closed out with two more goals in the final five minutes to lead 4-0 at the halftime break. Central Kitsap collected two goals in the second half in the 58th and 64th minutes.
“Central Kitsap’s experience overwhelmed us today,” River Ridge head coach Daniel Arevalo said. “We knew that this game and this week were going to be difficult, but for us coaches, we want to see how the players react. Today, a lot of things did not go our way, but the players kept trying, which is what we asked for.”
River Ridge (0-4-1) will face its third straight opponent that qualified for the 3A state tournament last season on Thursday when it takes on Gig Harbor at Nisqually Middle School. The Tides were a final four team a season ago.
