Rochester entered the break within striking distance in Kalama on Monday, but a red-hit third quarter from the Chinooks was too much for the Warriors to overcome in a 57-36 loss.
Rochester trailed by just three at halftime, but in the third quarter, it was outscored 19-5.
“Holding them to 22 first-half points was pretty good,” Rochester assistant coach Kyle Ratkie said. “In the third, rotations got a little slower, and we didn’t get out to shooters as well … Kalama hit some shots outside, and it was kind of hard for us to claw back.”
Ratkie added that he was pleased with how the offense was able to generate open shots in the first half, but they weren’t able to consistently knock them down.
“We just didn’t shoot the ball well,” Ratkie said. “That first half is something to build off really happy with the kids for showing out like that … Hopefully we can build off that and start putting four quarters together.”
Isaac Derrick, Tyson Canales, and Emmitt Mancuso scored nine points apiece, while Devin Gravett added seven and Marshall Turnquist tallied two.
Rochester (0-4) will look to snap its skid at home on Wednesday against Castle Rock.
