Maddox Rodgers reset the Rochester record book on Friday night, when he scored a whopping six touchdowns in Rochester’s 51-6 victory over Hoquiam.

Rodgers scored touchdowns of two, 16, 25, 20, 29, and 21 yards en route to finishing with 234 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Owen Simpkins logged 148 rushing yards and a score on 11 attempts, and Kaiser Tartios added 62 on seven rushes.

As a team, the Warriors finished with 470 rushing yards.

“A full team effort,” Rochester AJ Easley said. “Maddox had a really good night, the offensive line played really well, and Owen Simpkins continued to block really well from the running back spot.”

Easley also credited Brody Easley, who started his first game under center and did “a really good job” managing the offense.

The Warriors also impressed on defense and special teams. As a team, they tallied nearly 10 sacks, Aiden Villaneuva came away with an interception, and Rodgers blocked a punt.

Before the game, the Warriors had an additional honorary captain in Papa Sayaogo, who led the team onto the field and went out with the captains for the coin toss.

Rochester (5-0, 1-0 1A Evergreen) will look to remain unbeaten next week, when it makes the short trip to Tenino for the Scatter Creek Showdown.
