The Saint Martin’s women’s soccer team went toe-to-toe with NAIA powerhouse Eastern Oregon to open the 2026 season Thursday afternoon and held the Mountaineers scoreless for 83 minutes.
However, with seven minutes left in regulation, EOU’s Cassidy Harding put home a goal off an assist by Yelm graduate Holly Dorhauer to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, Saint Martin’s, which outshot EOU 5-4 in the first half, only recorded two in the final 45 minutes and was held without a shot in the final 10 minutes.
Goalkeeper Sam Escobar played all 90 minutes in the net and piled up seven saves for the Saints. Leia Tupper led the Saints with two shots on goal while only playing 45 minutes. Saint Martin’s as a team recorded five shots on goal.
Saint Martin’s (0-1) will return to Saints Field on Saturday, Aug. 29 to face Warner Pacific at 1 p.m. GNAC play begins Thursday, Sept. 17 at home against Seattle Pacific.
