The Rainier girls basketball team was down three players on Friday against Rochester, but the Mountaineers were still able to pull away and earn a convincing 60-29 win over the Warriors.

“It was a great team win,” Rainier coach Jordan Hunt. “We battled.”

The Mountaineers built a nine-point lead in the first, and they pushed it to nearly 30 by outscoring the Warriors 21-3 in the second.

The second half was more even, but Rainier was able to maintain its lead.

Kaysen Bravo finished with a game-high 18 points, while Lexi Beckman scored 13 and Zaylee Bravo tallied 11. Marianna Gonzales added eight, Alexis Myers and Felicity McKitrick both logged four, and Katelyn Eckroth rounded out the Rainier scorers with two.

Elizabeth Hoover led the Warriors with nine points, though Lexi Dupont wasn’t far behind with eight. Both Chloe Verd and Karmae Hines added three, and both Lauren Rodriguez and Kyanna Estrada logged two.

Rainier (3-2) will head to Tumwater on Monday, while Rochester (2-4) will return home to host Shelton on Tuesday.
