The Northwest Christian volleyball team couldn’t keep up with Adna Wednesday night, as the Pirates swept the Wolverines 25-16, 25-9, 25-19, in Lewis County.
Northwest Christian played without starting libero Jersey Buniag, who was sidelined with an injury. Ashlynn Hutchings led the Wolverines with four kills on offense and recorded a team-high six digs on defense.
Freshman Jess Collins tallied four aces from the service line and added three kills, seven assists and four digs. Rileigh Frost and Mimi Espinoza each supplied five digs on defense.
“Adna was tough, and we knew they would be,” Northwest Christian co-head coach Sarah Barnard said. “We were without Jersey at libero tonight unfortunately, which hurt. But we had some good moments and long rallies in between tougher plays.”
Northwest Christian (4-2) will have to quickly rebound when Pope John Paul II (0-1) comes to its gym Thursday night for the third game in as many nights. The trip to Adna was sandwiched between Tuesday night’s home sweep of Forest Ridge and Thursday’s Sea-Tac League opener with Pope John Paul II.
