South Sound Partners for Philanthropy invites nonprofit professionals, board members and community leaders from across the region to an evening event featuring national nonprofit speaker, motivator, and provocateur Robert Egger on Wednesday, Oct.7, at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.
The evening begins with a networking reception at 5 p.m. with small bites from Masonry Cafe Catering, followed by Egger’s keynote presentation on the main stage from 6 to 7 p.m.
Egger is a lifelong "power of food" champion and the originator of the Community Kitchen movement, a news release from event organizers stated. He is the founder of DC Central Kitchen, the Campus Kitchens Project, and LA Kitchen. He is also a Founding Board Member of World Central Kitchen alongside his longtime friend, Chef José Andrés. Collectively, these organizations have distributed over 400 million meals, helped thousands of individuals attain food service jobs, and supported cities and countries globally during disasters and war. In addition, Egger was the founding Chair of both the Washington, D.C. Mayor's Commission on Nutrition and Street Sense, a Washington, D.C.-based newspaper.
"We are entering one of the most critical junctures in our nation’s history," Egger wrote. "Donors need to change the way we give, and nonprofits must change the way we use what we’re given."
