Southeast Olympia residents invited to provide input on public art project

Southeast Olympia residents are invited to attend a community meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 2, to provide input and learn more about the upcoming Henderson and Eskridge Boulevard Art Crossing.

This is the fifth of eight locations mapped out in the Olympia Crossings Public Art Project,  a plan the City of Olympia finalized in October 2017 as part of implementing the 2014 "Imagine Olympia" comprehensive plan.

The goals for the Olympia Crossings Public Art Project are to place public art deep into Olympia’s neighborhoods, contribute to a sense of community identity, and introduce place making elements that help to define and also bring together different areas of our community.

The purpose of the Sept. 2 meeting is to develop a site description to inform project candidates about the neighborhood, according to the City of Olympia.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Transformation Life Center, 1717 Eskridge Boulevard SE.

Project organizers will ask meeting attendees four questions:

  • What do you value about your neighborhood?
  • What do you want people to know about your neighborhood?
  • How is the neighborhood connected to Olympia?
  • What else should the artist know?

Area residents who can’t make the meeting can still participate by taking a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DJKTLZ8 before Monday, Sept. 7.
