The Southeast Thurston Fire Authority thanked community members Sunday for the care they showed as first responders attended to a vehicle vs. pedestrian incident at a busy intersection in Yelm that evening.
“With the heavier traffic through this intersection and the dark, foggy conditions, we appreciate the overall caution shown by drivers in the area while our crews worked,” the fire authority said in a social media post. “Slowing down and staying aware gives our responders the space they need to work safely, especially during evening and winter hours.”
Crews had responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of state Route 507 and Vail Road Southeast in Yelm just before 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30.
First responders arrived to find one patient down on the roadway.
The patient received immediate care on scene and was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
The Southeast Thurston Fire Authority asked drivers to continue using extra care as visibility drops this season.
