A first-half goal by Tacoma Community College proved to be too much to overcome for the South Puget Sound Community College men’s soccer team at home Wednesday, as the Clippers fell 1-0.
SPSCC didn’t register its first shot until the 39th minute, at which point TCC already recorded four shots and five corner kicks. The Titans’ fourth shot attempt found the back of the net off the foot of Caden Grant from an assist by Jake Patten.
The Clippers’ offense grew more efficient in the second half with five shots, but none connected. TCC outshot SPSCC 8-6, and Clippers goalkeeper Wyatt Thornycroft saved one of the Titans’ two shots on goal in his 90 minutes in net.
Emre Celebi led the Clippers with two shots, while Juan Lopez was responsible for their lone shot on goal.
SPSCC (0-4, 0-2 NWAC) will look to earn its first win of the season at home Saturday, Sept. 5 against Clark College.
