Here’s a brief recap of each of Friday morning’s Round of 16 games:

Toledo takes care of Brewster

No. 2 Toledo looked the part of a state contender in its first-round matchup, as the Riverhawks dispatched No. 15 Brewster 10-0 in five innings.

Peyton Holter struck out 12 and allowed just one hit in the circle, and Toledo gave her some immediate run support with a five-run first before later adding one in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth.

Taysia Miller finished with three hits, including the run-rule walk-off single, and she drove in a run and scored twice.

Camryn Hurley added two hits and drove in a pair, and both Audrey Cooper and Ellie Seely added a run and an RBI apiece.

The Riverhawks will face No. 7 Pe Ell/Willapa Valley in its quarterfinal.

Adna run-rules Lake Roosevelt

No. 14 Lake Roosevelt got on the board first against No. 3 Adna, but the three-time defending champions quickly got in front and pulled away for a 13-3 win in six.

Adna scored at least two runs in every inning except for the fifth, their only scoreless frame of the day, and it capped its day with a four-run sixth for the run-rule walk-off. Hadleigh Gerard came through with the winning hit, a two-run bloop single to left field.

Gerard finished with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs, and Presley Strodmeier hit a home run and drove in three hits as part of a 2 for 3 day. Lena McCloskey also hit a home run in the win, a two-run blast in the bottom of the first that put the Pirates in front. Tieander Olson added three hits and an RBI.

No. 3 Adna will face No. 6 River View in its quarterfinal.

Pe Ell/Willapa Valley pulls away from Cle Elum-Roslyn

No. 7 Pe Ell/Willapa Valley’s offense had no trouble getting going on Friday morning in Yakima, as the Titans topped 20 in a 21-8 five-inning victory over No. 10 Cle Elum-Roslyn.

After a scoreless opening frame, PWV scored four in the second before breaking the game open with a 12-run third. A five-run fourth helped keep the run rule in play.

Tylar Keeton went 4 for 4 with a home run, driving in two runs and scoring four times, while Lauren Matlock hit two doubles, drove in three runs, and scored twice as part of a 3 for 5 day.

Izzy Milanowski added three hits, two RBIs and three runs, Sophia Milanowski went 3 for 3 with two RBIs, and CJ Sipp finished with two hits, including a double, two RBIs, and three runs.

No. 7 PWV will play No. 2 Toledo in its quarterfinal.

Napavine blows it open to beat Warden

No. 4 Napavine and No. 13 Warden were deadlocked at two through four innings, but the Tigers blew the game open with a nine-run fifth and eventually won 13-3 in six.

Tarynn Dalebout put Napavine in front with a two-run single to kickstart the big inning. Dakota Lyons beat out an RBI infield single, Taylen Evander hit a two-run double, and Hayden Kaut hit a two-run single.

Clara Fay brought in another two runs with a double, and Kaut ended the game with a run-rule walk-off two-run double in the sixth.

Full stats were unavailable as of writing.

Napavine will play No. 5 Liberty in its quarterfinal.

Rainier falls to Liberty

No. 12 Rainier lost its Round of 16 matchup, falling to No. 5 Liberty 8-1.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Mountaineers tied it in the second on a passed ball, but Liberty retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

The Lancers added on with five runs across third and fourth before adding an insurance run in the sixth.

Ryleigh Cruse collected two hits, including a double, drew a walk, and scored Rainier’s lone run.

Rainier will face No. 13 Warden in an elimination game later Friday afternoon. If the Mountaineers want to finish in the top four and earn a state trophy, they’ll need to win four straight elimination games.
