Tenino entered the second quarter down just three in Montesano on Thursday, but the Beavers couldn’t keep pace with the Bulldogs in a 67-30 loss.
The Beavers put up 15 in the opening frame, but were held to just 15 points over the final three quarters.
On the other end, Montesano extended its lead in the second quarter and continued to build on it after the break.
“Tough one tonight,” Tenino coach Kirsi Gofinch said. “We hung in there for the first, but they put up a great defensive effort. It was a pretty physical game, and I was proud of our younger, undersized crew for fighting through that.”
Kylie Gonia and Charley Jones both scored 10 to lead the Tenino offense, while Georgia Gore scored five, Kyla Watson tallied three, and Lilly Pfaff added two.
Tenino (5-13, 1-4 1A Evergreen) will return home on Tuesday to face Elma.
