The Beavers had several chances to find the back of the net, but couldn’t find a breakthrough and dropped a non-league contest 1-0 to Annie Wright at home on Tuesday night.
Eleven shots to seven and two more corner kicks were statistics in favor of Tenino (2-1). It also had two goals waved off for offsides and another taken away on a foul away from the ball. Head coach Trevor Fetbrandt put it bluntly afterwards.
“The statistic that matters the most is the final score,” he said. “Super proud of the performance. Annie Wright is a fantastic team and we knew it was going to be a battle. All things considered, we showed particularly that we are really good and going to be a force all season.”
Centerbacks Tate Carbonneau and Charley Jones held the Gators in check for much of the night, per Fetbrandt. Tenino will take on two-time Class 2B state quarterfinalist Napavine on Thursday night for its first road game of the season.
