For the second time this week, Tenino fell to Elma by double-digits, this time by an 11-1 margin in Elma on Thursday.

Tenino trailed 3-0 after three and got on the board thanks to an RBI single from Macie Scharber in the fourth, but Elma scored seven in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the bottom of the fifth to earn the run-rule victory.

Despite the final outcome, Tenino coach Chris Johnson was pleased with how his offense looked. In their first matchup against Elma on Monday, the Beavers managed just three hits, and on Thursday, they had eight.

“We were able to put runners on base,” Johnson said. “We just need to string together that second and third hit.”

He added that he’s also pleased with the attitude of the group despite how some games have gone.

“They're really playing together and for each other,” Johnson said. “And that's something that we haven't done in a long time.”

The Beavers (1-4, 0-3 1A Evergreen) will host Hoquiam on Monday before welcoming Eatonville on Tuesday.

“We’re hoping to really hit our groove and hit the core of our league schedule,” Johnson said.
