Tenino’s Jeremiah McKague and Parker Minerich won district titles on Thursday, winning in the shot put and the discus at the 1A District 4 Championships in Vancouver.
McKague’s throw of 50 feet, 5.5 inches was a personal best, and it helped separate him from the two Wildcats that were separated by less than a foot at 44-7.5 and 44-0.
It’s the second time that McKague has cleared 50 feet this season, and he hit 50-0.5 at the Kalama Twilight Invitational in mid-April.
Minerich also bested a duo from La Center that finished in second and third, unleashing a discus throw of 139-10 to top the runner-up by 21 inches.
Weston Wachter-Parent finished second in the javelin with a throw of 142-10, and Tucker Matheson placed third in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5-10.
On the girls’ side, Alyssa Broderson won a pair of Unified titles in the shot put (21-0) and the 100 (18.21 seconds), and Kendall Bowe finished third in the javelin with a throw of 99-10.
Rochester’s Brooklyn Alfonso finished second in the javelin, posting a mark of 109-10 to end the day as the Warriors’ highest finisher.
