For the first time this season, the No. 5 Tumwater High School boys basketball team is on a losing streak. They were down double figures entering the locker room and the deficit only grew, putting fourth-seeded Pullman en route to a 73-38 verdict on Saturday night at West Valley Spokane High School.

It marks the largest loss of the season for Tumwater (21-3) and it now heads to Yakima with an elimination game on deck on Wednesday night against No. 13 West Valley Spokane. The Greyhounds’ size only put their rebounding advantage at four, but they had little trouble scoring.

Pullman led by 10 after the opening frame and pushed it to 30 by the second half. Its defense held Tumwater, which at one point trailed by eight, to only 17 points over the final two stanzas. Landon Anchors led the T-Birds with 12 points, the lone player in double digits.

Luke Overbay grabbed eight rebounds and Owen Reamer notched three steals for Tumwater.
