Thurston County certifies Feb. 10 special election Feb. 3 drainage district elections

The Thurston County Canvassing Board certified the Feb. 10 special election and the Feb. 3 Scott Lake Drainage District election on Friday, Feb. 20. 

Certified election results can be accessed via the Thurston County Auditor’s website.  

Special Election

All four school district levy proposals on the Feb. 10 ballot passed.  

The final voter turnout was 31.75%, with 29,431 ballots cast. Of those, 20 were returned blank, according to the Thurston County Auditor’s Office. 

The final official election results are: 

  • Olympia School District Technology and Capital Projects Replacement Levy: Passed, with 11,710 votes, 68.78%, in favor and 5,316 votes, 31.22%, opposed. Ten undervotes were documented in this race. 
  • Tenino School District Replacement Capital Levy to Improve Student Safety, Technology and Learning Environments: Passed, with 1,281 votes, 52.65%, in favor and 1,152, 47.35%, opposed. 
  • Tumwater School District Replacement Safety, Technology, and Capital Improvements Levy: Passed, with 5,844 votes, 59.39%, in favor and 3,996 votes, 40.61%, opposed. Ten undervotes were documented in this race.
  • While Centralia School District voters in Thurston County predominantly opposed the district's Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy, with 70 “no” votes and 42 “yes” votes, the proposal ultimately passed with a total of 2,551 votes, 50.43%, in favor and 2,507, 49.57%, opposed. The Centralia School District encompasses parts of both Lewis and Thurston counties, meaning voters in both counties take part in the election. 

Scott Lake Drainage District 

The Scott Lake Drainage District manages the stormwater drainage system for the Scott Lake community south of Tumwater.

Voters elected Darrin Joel Boede to Commissioner Position No. 1 by 58.25%, 120 votes, to opponent Zack Anderson’s 41.75%, 86 votes. 

That race saw a 19.23% voter turnout, according to the Thurston County Auditor’s Office.
