Thirty-two kids went gift shopping with local police agency volunteers on Monday, Dec. 15, as part of an annual Shop with a Cop event.
Volunteers with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Yelm Police Department and Army CID provided the kids a special escort to the Yelm Walmart, went shopping for holiday gifts for themselves and their loved ones. They put all of the gifts inside the SWAT bearcat before heading back to the community center, where they wrapped presents and enjoyed Farrellis Pizza.
“Watching kids stuff carts full of toys, gifts, food, and hygiene products has left us all feeling grateful for having such a caring, thoughtful community around us,” Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.
