Dakota Lyons struck out nine in five shutout innings on Friday, leading Napavine to a 10-0 shutout victory over Rochester in a non-league matinee.
Lyons was as efficient as one can be in those five frames, allowing just two hits and not issuing a walk while only throwing 66 pitches.
Offensively, the Tigers scored at least two runs in all four innings they came to the plate.
Taylen Evander and Tarynn Dalebout drove in two runs apiece, and Aubrey Williams and Lyla Kirkpatrick also both chipped in an RBI.
Hannah Fay picked up a pair of hits, including a double, and scored two runs, and seven other Tigers collected a hit in the win.
Rochester’s Josie Nygard and Layla Masiki collected the Warriors’ two hits.
Both teams are now off for the break. Napavine (7-1) will head to Onalaska on Monday, April 13 to start league play, while Rochester (1-8, 0-3 1A Evergreen) will host Tenino on Tuesday, April 14.
