Timber Tails K9 Rescue celebrates one year and 200 lives saved with Valentine’s Day bash

Timber Tails K9 Rescue (TTK9) will host its one-year anniversary celebration on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Coastal Farm and Ranch in Lacey.

“What better way to celebrate the unconditional love of dogs than on Valentine’s Day?” TTK9 said in a news release.

Founded one year ago by two passionate local women, TTK9 was created to save dogs being left behind and to combat euthanasia rates in Grays Harbor County.

In just 12 months, the rescue has successfully saved nearly 200 dogs, according to a news release.

From their "Last Sprouts" program for pregnant mothers to hosting free microchip clinics and pulling at-risk dogs from municipal shelters, TTK9 says it has proven its dedication to the community.

"Surviving the first year of rescue work is a massive accomplishment," says the TTK9 team. "It is emotionally draining and takes incredible energy, but seeing these dogs find homes makes it all worth it. We want to celebrate this win with the community that supports us."

The one-year anniversary event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5500 Martin Way East.

TTK9 holds regular adoption events at this location on the second Saturday of every month. “Join us this Valentine's Day to find a new best friend or simply celebrate a year of life-saving work,” TTK9 staff said in a news release.

Anniversary event highlights include:

  • A meet-and-greet with adoptable dogs and an opportunity to view  bios for dogs currently in the Freedom Tails training program.
  • Free "pup cups" for four-legged guests and cupcakes for humans, while supplies last.
  • An on-site “FURgent care unit” providing $10 dog toe-nail trims and free Valentine’s pet photos.
  • A coloring contest. Pick up a page at Coastal Farm & Ranch now through Feb. 14 to enter.
  • A dog treat drive. TTK9 will be collecting treats for their dogs, specifically for use in the Freedom Tails Program where dogs receive 6-12 weeks of one-on- one training from an assigned inmate, teaching them all the skills to be good community citizens. Attendees can show their support by bringing in or purchasing treats on site.

TTK9 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-kill environments and providing them with medical care, training, and loving forever homes.
