Timberland Regional Library announces limited-edition Laufey Book Club library card

Timberland Regional Library (TRL) is partnering with Laufey, the two-time Grammy Award-winning artist, New  York Times bestselling author of the children’s book “Mei Mei The Bunny” and her global Laufey Book Club to release a special limited-edition library card.

The initiative comes amid Library Card Sign-Up Month in September, a news release from TRL announced.

The Laufey Book Club connects readers across the globe through shared monthly book selections and online monthly meetings. In 2025, the Laufey Book Club launched a pilot initiative of collaborative cards with five library systems — Los Angeles County, Boston, Phoenix, Fulton County and Reykjavík — and broke most of the library systems’ single-day signup records with the launch.

After expanding the initiative to team up with TRL, the card launch aims to encourage more people to visit their local library, discover new books and services available, and connect with others in their community. The partnership also solidifies Laufey’s role as the 2025 spokesperson for Library Card Sign-Up Month, an American Library Association initiative celebrating the power of libraries to support their communities, the news release stated.

The limited-edition TRL card design features a Laufey Book Club design, alongside the Laufey Book Club crest and TRL logo.

The TRL design is one of nearly 50 Laufey Book Club collaborative public library cards launching around the world, and the only one in Washington state.

Starting in early September, the limited-edition card will be available to both new and existing TRL cardholders at all TRL branches with a limit of one per patron.

Each library will announce on their social media channels when the cards arrive at their branch. Residents can check their library’s open days and hours at TRL.org/Locations.

Library cards are available for free to anyone of any age who lives, works or attends school in Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties as well as institutions, businesses and homeschools located within TRL’s five-county service area.
