Timberline can’t complete comeback in loss to Central Kitsap

The red-hot Timberline baseball team fell to Central Kitsap 8-3 in Silverdale Saturday afternoon, ending a two-game win streak where the Blazers averaged 18.5 runs per game.

Timberline struggled to bring runners home against Cougars pitcher Mason Raty, who started the game with five perfect innings. The Blazers’ first baserunner came in the sixth as Dalton Abbott led off the frame with a single. By that point, Central Kitsap had scored two runs in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth and three in the sixth to take an 8-0 lead.

After Abbott’s single, Zane Fraser delivered a two-out RBI hit to bring Abbott home and put Timberline on the board. Marley Gamble and Reid Ovist each tacked on RBI singles in the inning, but the Blazers couldn’t finish the rally, leaving the bases loaded.

Adrian Williams pitched four innings and allowed only one hit for Timberline but surrendered five runs, yet only one of them was earned due to four Blazers errors.

Timberline (2-2, 2-1 Puget Sound League) will complete its Pierce County tour Tuesday at Peninsula before returning home Wednesday, when it will face the Seahawks again.
