Timberline shut out by Skyline in first loss of season

Five days after a 25-0 shutout win to open the season against Silas, the Timberline softball team was handed its first loss by Skyline 7-0 Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Blazers were held to two hits, both by Kayleese Dorfner. Nevaeh Haagen pitched six innings and struck out 11 batters, but she allowed 10 hits and seven runs, five of which were earned.

Skyline’s Emma Dahlgren drove in two runs in the first inning on a single to right field, and two more runners scored in the third off an infield error by Timberline. The Blazers put two runners on in both the first and third innings but couldn’t find the big hit to slim the lead down.

Dahlgren delivered again in the fourth, driving in two on a bases-loaded double. Emma Kell tacked on the seventh run of the day for Skyline via an RBI double.

Timberline (1-1, 1-0 Puget Sound League) will take on River Ridge (2-1, 2-0 Puget Sound League) Monday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.
