Tolbert, Keister push Olympia past Yelm

The Olympia baseball team improved to 8-0 after an 11-1 victory over Yelm Monday afternoon.

Landyn Keister shut down the Tornados bats over five innings of work, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while punching out six batters.

Olympia put four runs on the scoreboard in the first as Aiden Apfel scored on an error, Connor Hardy drove in Sawyer Dean on a sacrifice fly, Milo Tolbert brought Brayden Cheeka home on an RBI triple, and Tolbert scored on another error.

Wyatt Kober drove in a run in the second for Yelm, and the Bears answered with an RBI groundout by Braden Barrett. Olympia doubled its score with a five-run fifth inning, highlighted by Tolbert’s second RBI and a two-run single by Travis Kunkel. 

Tolbert finished 3 of 4 at the plate with two RBIs, three runs scored and a triple. Dean, Kunkel and Barrett each added two RBIs. 

Olympia (8-0, 4-0 South Puget Sound League) gets a rematch with Yelm (2-6, 1-3 South Puget Sound League) at home Tuesday afternoon.
