Syriahs Trolson pitched a one-hitter, and she and her sister Saihdee Trolson combined for five hits and eight runs batted in in the heart of the lineup as North Thurston blasted Silas 28-3 Monday.
In the battle of the Rams, the Rams dressed in purple and white jumped all over the Rams in red, white and blue early and often. North Thurston tallied six runs in the first inning, two in the second, and seven in the third to take a 15-0 lead. As if that weren’t enough, the Rams unloaded 13 runs in the fifth inning.
Saihdee Trolson finished 3 of 4 at the plate with four RBIs, four runs scored, a double, a triple and two walks. Syriahs Trolson went 2 of 5 with four RBIs and three runs scored, and she struck out eight batters while allowing just one hit, three runs and five walks. The lone hit came on a two-run home run by Silas’ Natalie Medalia in the fifth inning.
“Syri was locked in. She stayed strong as she worked through the lineup. She seems like she is getting stronger and more confident with her pitches, and so is our defense,” North Thurston head coach Sam Harding said. “We stayed aggressive at the plate, but we also stayed patient and waited for the right pitch. I believe we’re starting to finally run on all cylinders, and the team is starting to get more comfortable playing with each other. They’re playing as one and their confidence is building. That’s something I’ve been waiting for.”
Ten North Thurston hitters registered at least one RBI, while every Ram who entered the game scored at least once. Impressively, 28 runs is only the second-highest scoring output for North Thurston this season, as the Rams collected 37 runs against Lakes on March 23.
North Thurston (3-5, 2-4 Puget Sound League) will host Mount Tahoma (1-6, 1-6 Puget Sound League) Wednesday afternoon.
