Tumwater used a big first half to rout Montesano 60-44 in the Adna Holiday Hoops Tournament at Adna High School in its final game of the 2025 calendar year.
The Thunderbirds, who have now won four in a row, jumped in front 23-11 after the first eight minutes and extended their lead to 39-21 at halftime. Tumwater’s offense couldn’t quite maintain its first-half momentum, but the T-Birds held on for a comfortable win.
Juniors Ethan Bello and Julian Balsley led Tumwater with 14 points each. Luke Overbay stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. Landon Anchors provided seven points, Owen Reamer added six, Braeden Konrad contributed four and Grady Wall tallied a pair.
Bello’s day included an addition to his highlight reel in the third quarter as he posterized a defender with a wicked right-handed jam while drawing a foul.
Tumwater (5-1) will host Kelso on Mon. Jan. 5 for the first of four games next week, including its EvCo opener at home against W.F. West (3-5) the following night.
