Tyler Trujillo and Ashlynn Carey each blasted solo home runs, but the Olympia softball team fell short against Bonney Lake 7-5 on the road Tuesday.
After the Panthers scored a run in each of the first two innings, Trujillo lifted her second home run of the season to left field in the third inning. Abby Crawford tied the game with an RBI single later that inning.
Bonney Lake chased Olympia starting pitcher Sydnee Chandler-Trent from the game in the third with four runs, all with two outs, to jump ahead 6-2. In the top of the fourth, Carey crushed a no-doubt solo home run to left field for her first bomb of the season.
The Panthers couldn’t score off of reliever Izzy Falling after loading the bases in the fourth, but they converted a two-out double in the sixth to take a 7-3 lead. Trujillo added to her solid day at the plate with an RBI double in the top of the seventh, and Mariah Martin’s grounder forced an error and brought Trujillo home.
Trujillo and Aliyah Eberle each had two extra-base hits for the Bears, who have lost three straight and four of their last five games.
Olympia (6-12, 6-8 South Puget Sound League) will celebrate its seniors Thursday against Bethel at Stevens Field before closing out the regular season Friday at Sumner.
