Two people were injured in a hit-and-run rollover crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Mason County early Sunday morning.
A white 1995 Ford Econoline left the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled onto its driver’s side — coming to rest in the northbound lane — at milepost 344 on U.S. Highway 101 at about 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, according to a Washington State Patrol Incident Report.
A turquoise 2002 Hyundai Elantra driving northbound struck the Ford’s undercarriage and came to rest against the Ford in the northbound lane.
The occupants of the Ford fled the scene on foot.
The occupants of the Hyundai, identified by WSP as Daniel R. Batchelor, 57, of Shelton and Amy C. Morgan, 49, of Port Angeles, were not wearing seat belts and were both injured in the crash. Batchelor was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital and Morgan was transported to Mason General Hospital.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Investigators had not identified the driver of the Ford as of Monday morning.
