Lukas Wexler picked a perfect time to score his first collegiate goal.

The Saint Martin’s junior defender found the back of the net in the 85th minute off an assist by Juan Diaz to lift the Saints to a 2-2 draw against Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday afternoon.

Diaz had a hand in both of the Saints’ goals, as he and Grant Deuel assisted Corbin Herrera’s goal in the 16th minute. Cal Poly Humboldt responded in the 28th minute with a goal by Dominic Calero to tie the game at 1-1, which ended up being the halftime score.

Cal Poly Humboldt’s Seth Uson broke the tie in the 76th minute with a goal, and Wexler provided the equalizer in the 85th. Wexler had another shot on goal two minutes later but couldn’t find the mark.

Saint Martin’s outshot the Lumberjacks 12-7, including 7-4 in shots on goal. Connor Leistiko recorded two saves for the Saints.

Saint Martin’s (3-2-1) will travel to Salem, Oregon, this weekend to face St. Mary’s (Texas) on Thursday, Sept. 17 and West Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 19.
