It took until the late innings for the runs to cross home at a high rate, with the Black Hills High School baseball team getting the final run across in the bottom of the eighth to triumph over Bremerton 11-10 in eight innings on Saturday at home.
After Landon Echols struck out the side in the top of the eighth, Joel Beldo led off the bottom half with a walk and moved to third on a Jake Langan double. One pitch later, Beldo ran home on a Knights passed ball to give the Wolves the win.
Tied at three after five complete frames, Bremerton seemed to break away with a six-run sixth. Black Hills responded with four, then three more in the seventh to send the game into extras. Brody Rice tied the game at 10-10 with a two-out, two-run single.
Beldo earned the start and battled through eight hits and crossed home four times. Rice led with four RBIs while he and Langan each recorded two hits. Black Hills returns to Evergreen Conference play on Tuesday to take on Tumwater.
