The Timberline softball team has now won seven in a row after defeating River Ridge 13-2 Thursday, securing a season sweep of the Hawks.
Nevaeh Haagen hit her eighth home run of the season in the first inning, but instead of vaulting the ball over the fence, she hit a liner just past the right fielder and raced all the way around the bases for a home run. The throw home from the infield was too high as she slid home.
The Blazers tallied two more runs in the second inning, and Porsha Miller’s two-run triple in the third made it 8-0. Meanwhile, Haagen was cruising in the circle. She struck out eight of the nine batters she faced, including six in a row.
River Ridge put two on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth against Miller, with Haleigh Camberg earning an RBI on a sacrifice groundout and Jadyn DaPron driving in a run with a single.
Kayleese Dorfner led off the fourth with a solo home run over the fence in left field to highlight a five-run fifth for the Blazers.
Next up for Timberline (11-2, 11-0 Puget Sound League) is a crucial road test at Gig Harbor (10-2, 9-2 PSL) Friday afternoon, while River Ridge (5-8, 5-6 PSL) hosts Lakes (0-9, 0-9 PSL) Monday, April 27.
