Capital survive chaos in shutout win over Lincoln

Lincoln threw all it could at the Capital boys soccer team Tuesday night, but the Cougars outlasted the Abes 2-0 in Tacoma to improve to 4-1-1.

Following over 60 scoreless minutes, senior Tanner Fricke netted the first goal of the night in the 61st minute. Junior goalkeeper Finn Landon made a key save right after the goal to preserve the 1-0 lead. Landon recorded five saves against Lincoln.

Junior Jaden Annan took a pass from junior Kellen Woods in the 66th minute to put the finishing touches on a road non-league win.

“Lincoln did a very good job at creating chaos throughout the game,” Capital head coach Jeremy Richtmyre said. “When there is that much chaos, good teams find ways to manage or even capitalize on the chaos that is created. The boys managed the chaos effectively tonight and came out on top with a well-earned victory.”

Capital has one more non-league bout on the schedule against Mount Tahoma Thursday night at home before opening Puget Sound League action at home against Timberline Saturday night.
