Egger’s 20 saves not enough in Timberline’s loss to Gig Harbor

The Timberline girls soccer team kept it close with Gig Harbor in the first half, but the Tides broke a 1-1 halftime tie with four unanswered goals in the second half to win 5-1.

Kalena Moe scored Timberline’s lone goal in the 17th minute, one of Timberline’s nine shots and four on goal. Goalkeeper Lola Egger piled up 20 saves in the net.

“It was a very hard-fought game, although the score does not show that,” Timberline head coach Chris Crowe said. “There was no quit. There was no surrender. There was just continuing to fight and score.”

Timberline honored its five seniors on senior night — Melia Mareko, Kalena Moe, Hannah Jackson, Abigail Green and Penelope Payne.

Timberline (6-6-2, 5-2-2 Puget Sound League) will visit Bellarmine on Thursday, Oct. 22.
