The Evergreen State College men’s soccer team produced a handful of strong chances to tie or beat Walla Walla on Sunday, Oct. 18, but the Geoducks couldn’t find the net in a 1-0 loss on the road.

Walla Walla’s Gabriel Delgadillo connected on the game’s lone goal in the 17th minute. In the final moments of the first half, Evergreen defender Daniel Aguilar Fuentes made a clutch clearance of a shot near the net.

Midway through the second half, Luca Viana took a penalty kick looking to tie the game, but it was saved. The Geoducks created three shots in the final 10 minutes, including a shot by Angel Sandoval that was saved.

Viana produced the final scoring attempt in the closing seconds, a shot that was deflected by the Wolves near the right post with two seconds left. But time expired before the Geoducks could take the resulting corner kick.

Sandoval led the Geoducks with three shots on goal of their six, and goalkeeper Tom Cole recorded six saves.

Evergreen (4-6-3, 2-6-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference) has now lost three in a row and will look to end the cold spell at home against Northwest on Saturday, Oct. 24.
