Juan Diaz notched his second goal of the young season, but the Saint Martin’s men’s soccer team lost its first game of the 2026 season 3-1 to Stanislaus State Thursday in Turlock, California.
No one scored until the 62nd minute when Alexis Cervantes found the back of the net for the Warriors. Diaz’s unassisted goal served as the equalizer 10 minutes later. However, a yellow card on Saint Martin’s Cole Ballard gave Gerardo Flores a penalty kick in the 82nd minute, and he converted to lift the Warriors to a 2-1 lead. Cervantes added an insurance goal in the final minute for his second score of the game.
Stanislaus State outshot Saint Martin’s 16-10, including 8-2 in shots on goal. Brandon Durr, Xander Koenig, Diaz, Jackson Rotondo and Kodyn Flynn each recorded two shots. Connor Leistiko tallied five saves.
Saint Martin’s (2-1) will stick around California this weekend to take on Chico State Saturday morning.
