Dear editor,
As Thurston County’s current elected clerk, I know firsthand the complex, demanding, and vital nature of this office. The county clerk serves as the keeper of the Superior Court’s permanent record, the court’s financial officer, and holds a critical position in the executive branch of local government. This role requires deep institutional knowledge and a steadfast commitment to the impartial administration of justice. That is why I am wholeheartedly endorsing Garrett Cady for Thurston County Clerk in the upcoming Nov. 3 general election.
Garrett is the only candidate in this race who currently works in the clerk’s office and knows the job. As a sworn deputy clerk, he intimately understands the office’s daily operations, the statutory requirements of the role, and the unique challenges our office faces. Garrett’s dedication to public service is woven into his character. During a year when our office has had to navigate difficult county budget reductions, he has proven himself to be a truly dedicated public servant by consistently going above and beyond to help the public navigate the complex legal system.
One of the most critical aspects of the clerk's office is its independence from the judicial branch. Garrett demonstrates a profound understanding that the clerk must protect the judiciary from any appearance of impropriety or unfairness in the scheduling of hearings, the implementation of orders, and the collection of fees. His commitment to pure ministerial neutrality is exactly what our local justice system requires.
What truly sets Garrett apart, however, is his proven leadership and the unwavering support he has earned from his peers within our office. Garrett demonstrates this daily through his ability to train new deputies, expertly guide staff through complex procedural changes, and maintain high morale during even the most difficult of times. He has cultivated a strong, collaborative working relationship with the office staff, earning their respect and trust. The team knows they can rely on him, and that internal support is invaluable for a well-run office and for a seamless transition.
Throughout his tenure, Garrett has shown an exceptional level of attention to detail, integrity, accountability and excellent customer service. He understands the clerk’s obligations to the public, and he is fiercely dedicated to protecting the vital public access services our community relies on.
Having served in this role, I know what it takes to be a successful county clerk and, thus, Garrett has earned my full trust and confidence. I urge you to vote for the candidate who already knows the job, has the support of the staff, and will serve our community with honor. Please join me in voting for Garrett Cady.
Sincerely,
Linda Myhre Enlow
