Black Hills and Tumwater were deadlocked at two in overtime of a 2A District 4 Tournament Elimination Game on Wednesday at Black Hills High School, but Black Hills’ Ella McNair scored the golden goal to lift the Wolves to a 3-2 victory that extends their season.

Sienna Perry took a free kick from about 30 yards out in the final minute of the first half of overtime, and McNair slid a low shot through traffic and into the net to give Black Hills the win.

McNair also scored in regulation, as did Marlie Voorhies.

It was the third time that Black Hills and Tumwater had met this season, and the Wolves will finish the year 2-0-1 against the Thunderbirds.

“Proud of the girls for going unbeaten against our rivals,” Black Hills coach Jordan Owen said. “I’m excited to keep coaching this team.”

Black Hills (10-5-3) will now face W.F. West in a winner-to-state elimination game on Saturday.

The exact time and location of Saturday’s game has not been determined at the time of writing, but this article will be updated with that information when it is made available.

A win would send the Wolves through to the state tournament for the first time since 2016, according to the WIAA website.

Tumwater finishes its season 6-10-4 overall and will graduate six seniors: Killian Turner, Emery Schmidt, Adrianna Poulos, Kacie Harrington, Alaina Feaster, and Jenna Graves.
