The Olympia Police Department responded to a total of 1,061 calls for service this week.
The department remarked upon the following notable trends:
- Three aggravated assaults were reported this week, with arrests in two cases and one an open investigation. In one arrest, a patient grabbed a nurse inappropriately. In the other case, the suspect fought with officers during his arrest and kicked one of the officers. He was also arrested for theft and commercial burglary after entering and stealing from a secured area.
- Five commercial burglaries were reported. In two cases with arrests, the suspects returned to stores they were previously trespassed from and stole alcohol. In another case, the suspect cut the fence around a construction zone and stole wood. The wood was located nearby. Someone also ripped wood securing a door off another building. No one was located during the building search. A witness reported seeing two people going into another business after hours. There was no apparent forced entry, but the front door was unsecured. The building was cleared and no one was found inside.
- Two auto thefts were reported this week. A 2001 Honda CRV was recovered by Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. A motorcycle was stolen and located by the victim in another area of Olympia.
- Three rapes were reported. All are open investigations. The victims knew the suspects in two cases, and one was a Sexual Assault Evidence kit picked up from the hospital.
- One robbery was reported. The investigation is open.
- A residential burglary involving a violation of a no contact order was reported. The suspect entered the home through a hidden unsecured entry and then changed all the locks.
