OlyPages Writing Arts Studio opened in September and just announced their special guest of their inaugural season, Washington State Book Award-winning author and former Olympia resident Jim Lynch.
OlyPages Writing Arts Studio was founded by Star Wuerdemann in partnership with Browsers Bookshop with a mission of building a welcoming place for writers in the South Sound region to develop their craft and cultivate community connection.
Lynch said, “I’ve often wished for some unifying organization that supports ambitious Olympia writers of all ages. I believe OlyPages can do that and more.”
Lynch will give a talk titled “How to Survive and Maybe Even Thrive as a Writer" on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 5 p.m.
The talk is on the joy, obsession and exasperation of trying to write and publish good fiction. Lynch is donating his time for this event. Donations will go toward OlyPages Scholarship Fund.
OlyPages Writing Arts Studio was founded by Star Wuerdemann in partnership with Browsers Bookshop with a mission of building a welcoming place for writers in the South Sound region to develop their craft and cultivate community connection, pairing no-cost entry points for all levels with paid classes for writers ready to go deeper.
Browsers’ owner, Andrea Griffith, said, “If you are a writer or know a writer, I encourage you to check out the offerings — there’s truly something here for everyone. Star, the founder, has been a partner and friend for the last several years, building a writing community through Browsers in the (Nearly) Silent Writing Club and Book Study series. The launch of OlyPages is a natural continuation and deepening of this work, and I am looking forward to years of creative collaboration between OlyPages and Browsers.”
OlyPages Writing Arts Studio is located at 111 Capitol Way North, Suite 200, Olympia.
