The Mountaineers bounced back from a five-set heartbreaker earlier in the week to cruise by the Vikings 25-16, 25-8, 25-12 at home on Thursday night to claim their first league win of the fall.
Allyson Ooms and Ellie Pringle were all-rotation stars for Rainier (10-2, 1-1 C2BL). Ooms posted 18 kills and 22 digs while Pringle added 12 kills plus 15 digs and fired in a team-best six aces. In the middle, Lexi Beckman and Reagan Bloom combined for nine kills and four blocks.
Setter Courtney Eckroth distributed 38 aces plus added three aces. It’s the Mountaineers 10th sweep of the fall and they’ll look to make it 11 when they hit the road to battle Napavine on Tuesday night.
“We seemed to be back to our normal play,” Rainier head coach Carrie Ooms said.
For Mossyrock (6-5, 1-1) it has dropped three of the last four matches after winning three straight. The Vikings will take on Toledo at home on Tuesday night.
