The River Ridge volleyball team put together one of its best sets of the season, but the Hawks were swept by Peninsula at home Monday, Oct. 5.
Peninsula took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-14, and the Hawks rallied in the third set and pushed the Seahawks in a 28-26 loss.
“Third set was probably the best our team has played together all season. So much heart and hustle,” River Ridge head coach Arianna Jacobson said. “Dig after dig, and scramble plays where we never gave up. The Hawks volleyball team is really working together and supporting their teammates. Narrow margins and almost got the set win, just didn’t fall our way this time. But we will be ready for the next one.”
Kristina Stupina tallied 16 assists, 13 digs and four aces, and Aspen Lamar posted four kills and eight digs. Ny’zriae Collins-Howard added six kills and nine digs. Sofia Lie led the Hawks defense with 24 digs.
River Ridge (2-8, 1-5 Puget Sound League) will visit North Thurston (7-1, 5-1 PSL) on Thursday, Oct. 8.
