The River Ridge girls soccer team picked up a convincing 4-1 victory over Capital on Tuesday, Oct. 20 on its senior night.
River Ridge celebrated its three seniors — Madilyn Prado, Mareli Torres-Jimenez, and Jordyn Allarde — and all three made their mark on the key league victory. Torres-Jimenez fed Emily Schelling with a great feed for an assist in the game’s first goal in the ninth minute, and Allarde netted the Hawks’ lone goal in the second half in the 47th minute off a rebound.
Sandwiched in between the two seniors’ goals were a pair of goals by freshman Kinsley Phillips, who now has 15 goals this season. On both of Phillips’ goals, she snuck the ball past the Cougars goalkeeper who was out of the box. Capital’s Alana English provided a goal in the 20th minute.
“They played as a team. They began to believe in themselves and the game model,” River Ridge head coach Duwan Tyson said. “They executed the game plan wonderfully. They played with intensity and determination. I’m proud of them.”
River Ridge (5-4-5, 3-4-2 Puget Sound League) sits in fourth place in the Puget Sound League Nisqually Division behind Capital (7-7-0, 4-5-0 PSL). The Hawks will finish the regular season with a road game against Gig Harbor on Thursday, Oct. 22 and against North Thurston on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Capital will host Silas on Thursday, Oct. 22 before its regular season finale against Bellarmine on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
