The River Ridge girls swimming team saw its 200-yard freestyle relay team qualify for the district meet last week, and they were close to another PR against Peninsula Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The Hawks swam in 2 minutes, 15.94 seconds to take second place. Their 200-yard medley relay team also qualified for districts last week and finished fourth against Peninsula at 2:32.62.

Emily Wlodkowski earned a PR in the 50-yard freestyle at 32.42 seconds to take fourth, and Olive Goehle’s time of 1:31.40 was enough for a PR in the 100-yard freestyle.

Rosalie Ponce took home two fourth-place finishes against the Seahawks, including a PR in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:37.84 and a time of 1:32.64 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Peninsula prevailed 149-24 in the meet.

“Great meet. They are a super fun team to watch this year,” River Ridge head coach Nikki Viehweg said of Peninsula. “My girls spent the day chasing them down.”

River Ridge will visit Lakes on Thursday, Oct. 8.
