For the second time in program history, the Rochester football team will enter the postseason at 9-0.

The Warriors capped their unbeaten regular season on Friday night in Elma, where they shut out the Eagles 55-0.

“The boys played really well in a muddy environment,” Rochester coach AJ Easley said. “The defense played really well, and we’ve very proud of everyone’s effort.”

Maddox Rodgers added to his school-record rushing total with 159 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries, and Owen Simpkins ran for 79 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts while also notching two interceptions on defense.

Kaiser Tartios added 80 rushing yards on just six carries, while Easton Singleton posted a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown, which was thrown by Brody Easley.

Owen Driver scored on special teams, returning a punt 42 yards for a score.

Rochester (9-0) is expected to be a top-4 seed in the 1A State Tournament, and the Warriors will host a Round of 24 matchup in Week 10. They’ll find out their opponent in that matchup on Sunday, when the WIAA releases the Week 10 matchups.
