For the first time in two years, the Saint Martin’s women’s soccer team has held its opponent scoreless for back-to-back games.
The Saints played to a scoreless draw with Western Oregon in Monmouth, Oregon, on Saturday, Oct. 10. This result followed a 1-0 win at Montana State Billings on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Billings, Montana.
Western Oregon took two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes, but Kami Bullock saved both in a three-save first half. Audrey Gadawski and Nora Melcher each fired shots on goal in the first goal yet couldn’t connect.
Sam Escobar took over as goalkeeper in the second half and immediately saved a shot on target. Alexia Rodriguez-Burdeaux gave the Saints a strong chance early in the second half but hit the crossbar. Escobar made another key save in the 67th minute, one of six saves by the Saints.
Saint Martin’s (2-9-2, 1-6-1 GNAC) will visit Western Washington on Thursday, Oct. 15.
