South Puget Sound Community College freshman Denise Silveyra came up clutch for the Clippers’ women soccer team on Saturday, Oct. 10, knocking down a game-tying goal in the 77th minute to notch a 1-1 draw against Lower Columbia.
SPSCC trailed 1-0 at halftime after Alyssa Gregory delivered an unassisted goal in the 40th minute. The Clippers only had seven shots and three on goal, but Silveyra’s lone attempt, off passes from Samantha Thomas and Alana Holroyd, found the back of the net.
Clippers goalkeeper Dariana Calix Villegas recorded six saves in the tie.
SPSCC (3-6-4, 1-6-4 NWAC) will host Pierce College on sophomore day on Saturday, Oct. 17.
